Business Council on Climate Change
The Bay Area Council (BAC), the San Francisco Department of the Environment (SF Environment), and the UN Global Compact have embarked on a new initiative to foster efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Bay Area's commercial sector.
The newly created Business Council on Climate Change (BC3) is a group conceived through this partnership to take a position of leadership on the issue of climate change by signing on to the BC3 Principles on Climate Change Leadership. Currently, we are working to identify a core group of businesses that are interested in being community leaders in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We are contacting a select group to initiate the BC3 and spearhead the effort to get other businesses involved. BC3 participants will receive recognition through SF Environment, BAC, and Global Compact publications and events.

Hello "Fun Team" of the BC3!
I suggest that we start by planning a service project. A few significant reasons to do this:
- Bring the group together for networking and getting to know one another.
- Give something back to our community in a tangible way.
- Make a physical difference in Climate Change that is readily visible in the community - tree planting?
- Garner some media coverage, thus some visibility for other businesses that may be interested in joining the BC3.
Thoughts?
I've worked with the Friends of the Urban Forest and REI gave them a grant in 2006. They can coordinate a tree planting with us: either within their already established planting schedule or setting a date just for the BC3. In either case, I'm happy to work with them on the planning.
